Great news! It gives me pleasure to announce in the Summer Newsletter 2025 that, following the successful launch of Strikemaster Extra for our sheep producers, we now have two fantastic new products soon to be available for our cattle producers.
Vetmec Multi Plus B12 Vitamin & Mineral Injection for Cattle
Developed in-house and fully manufactured in Australia, Chemvet is proud to have achieved a world first with this fully patented product. This is the first injectable multi-mineral formulation that not only delivers high levels of essential trace elements, but also includes a full dose of Vitamin B12 (2g/L). With just one low volume dose, cattle also receive comprehensive supplementation of Copper, Zinc and Selenium.
After extensive innovation and testing by Chemvet, Vetmec Multi Plus B12 has been approved by the APVMA! We expect to be able to fill orders in the new year. Also, a big shout out to those clients who allowed us to undertake trial work on their properties.
Vetmec Doraguard Antiparasitic Injection
You asked, we listened – and we’re delivering!
While we continue to stand firmly behind our long-standing Vetmec Cattle Injection (abamectin) for the control of worms, ticks and lice, we also recognise that a number of our clients are loyal doramectin (Dectomax™) users. In response, we have developed and registered Vetmec Doraguard, a highly similar injectable doramectin formulation. The first batch is scheduled for manufacture and is due to be available from April 2026.
Just like our Vetmec Injection, Doraguard pairs perfectly with Vetmec LEV Pour-On to deliver a powerful, double-active drench for combating resistance.

‘The Age of Single Actives is Over’
You may have seen other company campaigns stating that the age of single active drenches is over and that in some areas, a single active mectin drench is not cutting it. For our customers, this is probably not new information, as we’ve been recommending dual action drenches for quite a few years now. This is where Vetmec LEV Pour-On is our best solution. Us it in conjunction with any other mectin product – Vetmec Injection, Vetmec F, Vetmec LA, Vetmec Pour-On – to deliver a resistance-breaking dual action drench. Using LEV Pour-On gives flexibility as to which other mectin drench you need. For example, for cattle in Liver Fluke areas, use Vetmec F + LEV Pour-On, whereas, if Liver Fluke isn’t an issue, then save money and use normal Vetmec Injection + LEV!

Strikemaster Extra
Vetmec Strikemaster Extra has successfully launched after our last newsletter, and the ‘old’ Strikemaster has officially sold out. Going forward, Strikemaster Extra will be the spray on fly product on our shelves.
- Provides protection against susceptible sheep blowflies for up to 29 weeks.

Sheep Tag Rebates as of Summer Newsletter 2025
The first year of compulsory eID tags for lambs is almost over. Many rebates have been available which vary across the states. There are a couple of states that are ending their rebate program entirely, and a couple that will be ongoing. Summary in the table below:

Barber’s Pole Season
It’s the time of year when Barber’s Pole worm (Haemonchus contortus) is most active, and will be more problematic if temperatures are mild and a few summer rain events come through.
Barber’s Pole suck blood from the intestine of stock, eventually making them anaemic. Early signs include an inability to gain weight or a loss of condition. Severe signs include pale membranes (picture: pale gums), bottle jaw (picture), collapse when getting herded, and even death.
Early detection via frequent worm testing is vital! If egg counts come back high, then an effective drench is recommended. Vetmec LV Plus Selenium and Vetmec Dual, as a mix, can be highly effective in controlling Barber’s Pole worm.
For very susceptible stock, including replacement weaners, Vetmec Moxiguard Long Acting Injection might be a good insurance policy. When administered with a multi-active primer drench, Moxiguard protects against Barber’s Pole for up to 4 months.
Rainfall Charts
It might be optimistic of us to assume that a rainfall chart will be a positive experience for 2026, but we’re hopeful! Everyone who bought drench or tags from us in 2025 will have one included in their newsletter. If you have more than one property that you need to record separately, let us know, and we’ll put another one in your next order!

2026 Price Note – Dog Allwormer
Unfortunately, due to the rising cost of inputs, as of 1st January 2026 we have to increase the price of our beloved Vetmec Dog Allwormer Tablets for the first time ever! The price will increase from $30 + GST to $33 + GST per bottle of 10 tablets. If you order dog wormers on their own, the postage charge is $15, but of course free freight when you order drench!
For the next year or so, we will be keeping the price at $30 + GST if you purchase and pick them up from us at any field days and shows that we attend!
If you need to top up on your dog wormers, save a few dollars and order by the end of December 2025!
Out & About – Summer Newsletter 2025
Spring is a busy time for many producers, but it was great that many of you made the time to see us! There were lots of people through the gates at Henty Field Days. Josh traversed south-east QLD for a couple of weeks and Tash was in TAS for a week and attended a busy Longford Show and Royal Hobart Show alongside Pandara Kelpies.
We have the diary out, planning for our trips in 2026. Below we have a calendar for the shows and field days we’ll attend in the first few months!
