Chemvet Newsletter Volume 25: Summer 2015

5 Dec, 2015

Dear Friends & Clients

Hopefully the ‘Godzilla’ El Nino doesn’t fully materialise. The latest 3 month seasonal climate prediction from the Bureau (see map below) doesn’t look too bad considering, so fingers crossed for some non El Nino like conditions.

Their map predicts that December is likely to be wetter than average across southeast Queensland and northeast NSW, parts of the interior and southwestern Australia.

Across most of the rest of Australia (other than Northern WA and Cape York), the chances of a wetter or drier summer are roughly 50:50 although generally in all areas summer temperatures are predicted to be hotter than average. Lets see how accurate they were…

We’d like to wish all of you a safe and very merry Christmas with your family and friends!

Murray & the team at Chemvet

NEW product!

Vetmec LEV – Cattle resistance buster!

Vetmec LEV Pour-on for cattle 5LAs foreshadowed in our last newsletter we have a new product to offer our cattle clients. VETMEC LEV is a levamisole pour-on.

When drenching weaners and growing stock up until around 18 – 24 months of age we highly recommend that this product be used in conjunction with Vetmec Injection, Vetmec Pour-on or Vetmec F.

Resistance to the mectin drenches by the worm Cooperia has been in the news quite a lot. We have found Abamectin, the active ingredient in Vetmec Injection, is standing up to this parasite very well in the vast majority of cases due to its superior activity against this worm, but we want to keep it that way! “Any worm slipping passed the abamectin is knocked off by the levamisole.”

As with our very successful ‘three way drench strategy’ in sheep this ‘two way drench strategy’ will work a treat ensuring your drench will remain effective for years to come.

Buy 2 or more Vetmec Pour-on before March 31st 2020, and receive a FREE gun! (worth $45)!Summer Special

Vetmec Pour-on

A quality oil based ‘pour-on’ drench that has virtually no odour for both Beef and Dairy cattle with nil milk withholding! Treat and control all with the one application: Worms, Lice, Mange, Ticks, Buffalo fly.

Milestone!

Vetmec LV – 40,000,000 doses!

Vetmec LV Plus Selenium 10L40 million is the number of 50 kg sheep doses of Vetmec LV sold since its introduction to the market by Chemvet in March 2004.

We are very proud of the fact that Chemvet was the first to register an Abamectin product for sheep in the world (in New Zealand way back in 1996). Abamectin (the powerful mectin in sheep) has many times been shown to remain effective after the onset of Ivermectin resistance in sheep.

Of course drenching in conjunction with Vetmec Dual, giving a 3-way drench, has provided Chemvets’ sheep clients with an extremely effective low cost method of combatting sheep worm resistance in their flock.

TAG News

Visual Management tags

Due to the limited range of colours in the herdsman range and a few application issues we have decided to phase out this range of tags from our product list and concentrate on the Zee Tag range of tags.

chemvet ztagsWe realise that trouble free easy and safe application of tags is just so important and with the Z2 No-Tear Tagger the Zee Tag range certainly fits the bill.

We call this the ‘never go back applicator’ as once you have used it you will never go back. This applicator implants both the Zee Tag two piece visual range as well as the Zee Tag round NLIS Tags.

Zee tag promotion

Chemvet is still able to offer first time users of zee tags a free Z2 No Tear Tagger with every first order of over 50 Zee Tag NLIS or Zee Tag visual Tags (Note that this is only available on your first order of these tags).

Of course we will continue to supply the Datamars round and triangle NLIS tags that can be implanted with the universal tag applicator which many clients have.

New Mailing Labels

Many of you will have noticed that Chemvet has joined Australia Posts Electronic consignment system; E Parcel and E Parcel Express. The bar-coded labels provide for automated sorting at the parcel centres (improved delivery times) as well far superior tracking. If we have your email and mobile phone you will also receive a text message when the product is ready to be collected from your local PO.

Email addresses

If you are a regular email user (not many aren’t these days) then it would be really handy for us to have an email address for you. Growing numbers of our clients have nominated a preference for their invoices or other communication from us to be emailed to them. If you have a ‘regularly checked’ email address why not give it to us when you phone an order through.

It’s a small world

Ron was recently camping in Broken Hill and started chatting with his neighbours. Turns out they were long term Chemvet clients Matt and Jacqui Gabbe & kids Hannah & Jackson from Gymbowen, west of Horsham.

Expanding Families

It’s a boy! Ronnie’s daughter Ellen gave birth to a baby boy last Wednesday making him a first time and very proud Grandfather. The nature of the delivery was the big news! Ellen gave birth unexpectedly at home while Larry was getting the car ready to go to hospital. Ellen’s mum Catherine, a very experienced mid-wife, probably gave her the sage advice its your first, there’s no rush.
